[edit] Release information

This release (0.5, code name Amethyst) was scheduled for May 1st, 2008, and was delivered almost a month late, on May 28, 2008. It targets the .NET Framework 3.5, and runs on x86 and x64 platforms. Mono support is unknown. Visual Studio 2008 is needed to compile. (Express version should work)
The work was done by Domi, tobz, Ralek, fubeca, Meshok and others.

[edit] Setup

You can refer to Basic Setup for details on how to compile the source and set it up afterwards. The binaries come with all the content files except for the DBC files; you must extract those yourself. (instructions for doing so is in Basic Setup)

[edit] Release features

This marks the fifth release of WCell.

- Looting and harvesting professions mostly finished and working
- Item and containers can be created, moved, used, and saved
- Spells, items, NPCs, quests, etc, are now able to be loaded and the world can be fully populated
- NPCs hostility checks and factions implemented correctly - Starting items, stats, spells, etc are added correctly to newly created characters
- Some NPC types such as Banker, Flight Master, Vendors, Armorer etc
- Improved GameObject? system and -handling
- Command engine fully working for realm and authentication server (see http://wiki.wcell.org/index.php/Dev:Commands)
- WCell can be enhanced with addons (see http://wiki.wcell.org/index.php/Addons)
- Group and relation systems overhauled
- Full implementation of WCell's proposed Threading Strategy
- Basic anti-cheat mechanisms
- Basic testing framework and some simple tests
- Created and integrated WCell's PacketAnalyzer for debugging purposes - Most character-related things are now saved to DB
